Here are the three categories of hotels offered on our tours. All hotels have rooms with private bathrooms. We always request quiet rooms. They mostly have television and telephone, but in some cases (even in the most luxurious establishments) one or both of these features might be missing; please inform us ahead if they are needed. By default, we request non-smoking rooms. Air conditioning is not very common in France and is likely to be available only in some establishments of the "Luxury" category; please ask for it specifically if it is important to you.
Please see our cuisine page to learn about the restaurants offered for each of these categories.
In all cases, you have your own driver-interpreter throughout the tour. The tour is always ran especially for you; you are never part of a group.
Boutique style accommodation

This style of accommodation is the most popular on our tours. The establishments tend to be small, and each of them has its own personality. Unless there is no other choice, we do not book chain hotels. The room is of a reasonable size, and the hotel location is attractive.

Our "Boutique" prices mentioned on this website include private local guides (you travel with your
private driver-interpreter in France, and local specialist guides complement his knowledge).
Luxury style accommodation (best available)

If only the best is good enough for you, then this is the accommodation category you want. The establishments are simply the best available overall in the area, and within each establishment we book the best available room for you (some suites or apartments, if specifically required, might incur a further surcharge).
Whenever this is the best option, the establishments tend to be small, and each of them has its own personality. The hotel location is attractive. Usually, the hotels of the luxury (best available) category are in historic buildings.
Our "Luxury" prices mentioned on this website include private local guides (you travel with your private driver-interpreter, and local specialist guides complement his knowledge). Of course, meals and wine are of corresponding standard (see our cuisine page).
Because A La Carte
France Tours organize small group tours, we get the chance to stay in some of the most amazing properties and estates in France, that could not possibly host large groups. Many of these properties are converted mediaeval castles or later manors.
We endeavor to accommodate you in establishments that are
- quiet
- picturesque
- carefully maintained and serviced
- clean
- convenient
